Charles Vincent Receives Distinguished Scientist Award

At the XXV International Congress of Entomology (Orlando, FLA), Charles Vincent (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Qc) was presented the Distinguished Scientist Award by the Entomological Society of America International Branch (ESA-IB). In 2009, the ESA voted to create an International Branch, and Charles was the first person to be elected as president-elect of the ESA-IB, which has now 1700 members worldwide.

The Distinguished Scientist Award recognizes members of the International Branch of ESA who have made outstanding contributions to the science of entomology. The nominees must be widely recognized in both the International Branch and in the ESA as a major contributor to the science of entomology.

During the International Congress of Entomology (Orlando, FLA), Charles Vincent was elected member of the Council for International Congress of Entomology. The purpose of the Council is to provide continuity and Direction to the International Congress of Entomology and to serve as the Entomology Section of the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS). It consists of not more than 23 scientists who shall represent as wide a field as possible both geographically and by entomological discipline. The XXVI International Congress of Entomology will be held on 26-31 July, 2020, in Helsinki, Finland.
