The Entomological Society of America (ESA) has partnered with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) to update and enhance EPA-OPP’s SmartLabel database of pests found on pesticide labels. The database contains an estimated 7,000 arthropod pest species which need to be standardized. The work will be performed by a contractor whose work will be managed by ESA staff and overseen by a panel of subject matter experts (SME) who will serve as unpaid advisors to the contractor. The contractor should have broad taxonomic and systematics knowledge and be able to devote at least half of their daily work schedule time to the task throughout the summer and fall months of 2017.
Applicants should be knowledgeable about general arthropod taxonomy and pests likely to be found on pesticide labels. The selected contractor will earn $40/hour with bonuses available for meeting performance targets. To be considered for the position, please apply on this web form. The application period will close on July 7, 2017.
