Evaluation & Judging
Students who present ten-minute oral papers in the Student Competition will be evaluated in the following areas:

Scientific Content - 50%
- Introduction and background with pertinent literature cited (10 points)
- Objectives clearly stated and concise (10 points)
- Materials and methods (study design) clear and concise (10 points)
- Results and discussion clear, concise, and accurate (10 points)
- Significance of results to field of study, scope and difficulty of research, degree of innovation (10 points)

Presentations - 50%
- Organization: Logical order, minimum redundancy, smooth transitions between presentation sections (10 points)
- Slides: Legible with large fonts, color contrast, no conflicting backgrounds. Text with no grammatical errors, not excessively wordy, effective use of figures and/or tables (15 points)
- Delivery: Clear and audible speech; Effective use of time (15 points)
- Other: Overall quality of presentation, ability to answer questions, other positive attributes (10 points)
- Organization: Logical order, minimum redundancy, smooth transitions between presentation sections (10 points)
