Robert T. Gast Award & Southeastern Branch Student Award

The Robert T. Gast Award (Ph.D.) and the Southeastern Branch Student Award (M.S.) are awarded to students who present the best research papers at the ESA-SEB annual meeting. The awards are based on the performance of the student’s oral presentation. Each of the first place recipients of both Robert T. Gast and The Southeastern Branch Student Awards receives a check of $200 and a plaque. The second place awardees each receive a check of $100 and a certificate.

Southeastern Branch John Henry Comstock Award

This award is given by the ESA National Office to outstanding Ph.D. students. There are six annual awards, one given to a graduate student from each Branch to promote interest in entomology at the graduate level and to support attendance at the ESA annual meeting. Each award consists of an all-expenses-paid trip to the ESA national meeting, a $100 cash prize, and a certificate. Expenses paid include reimbursed airfare, free hotel arrangements and meeting registration, and a per diem allowance. These annual awards are presented during the ESA annual meeting.

Entomology 2019 Annual Meeting Volunteers

ESA's Volunteer Program offers students and early career professionals the opportunity to be a part of the Annual Meeting, where they can gain exposure for their work, network with colleagues and friends, and expand their careers. Student and early-career professional (ECP) ESA members who serve as volunteers and work a minimum of 6 hours at the Annual Meeting are eligible for $150 USD reimbursement of their registration fee* after the meeting.
