In the early 1870s, Riley guest lectured at Kansas State University using large silk tapestries depicting insects as teaching aids—the original PowerPoint! Following his death, nearly 70 tapestries were donated to K-State, where they remained forgotten until their rediscovery in the 2000s. Join us to view these remarkable pieces of entomology history, explore other insect illustrations, and learn about efforts to preserve them for future generations. Then explore the future of insect farming with a tour of the production facility at KSU’s Insect Farming Initiative.
