By volunteering their time and energy, ESA members fulfill vital leadership roles within the Society, making important decisions and carrying out essential functions as stated in the ESA Bylaws and Policy Manual.
Society Elections
ESA conducts elections annually in the summer via electronic ballot for ESA Governing Board positions, Section and International Branch officers, and Honorary Membership. The 2026–2027 Society Elections opened July 15 and closed August 17. Explore the results of the ESA summer elections, including the approval of a new Section of the Society, Formal & Informal Teaching.
Members must be active as of June 1 to be eligible to vote in that year's elections. Instructions to access and complete the electronic ballot will be sent to all eligible voters via email. For additional information on voting, see ESA voting instructions.
Branch Elections
ESA conducts elections annually in the winter for officers of the Eastern, North Central, Pacific, Southeastern, and Southwestern Branches. Nominations are currently open for the 2027 Branch Elections. View the full list of open positions and submit your nomination by November 22. Voting will open on January 6, 2027.
