ESA Professional Awards*

Honorary Member Nominees must have had significant involvement in the affairs of the Society, and have served with distinction in the field of entomology. Colleague/Self Service and Distinction to ESA 17-Apr
Fellow of the Entomological Society of America Nominees must have made outstanding contributions in one or more of the following areas of entomology: Research, Teaching, Extension, Administration, Military, and Public Engagement & Science Policy. Colleague/Self Entomology 17-Apr
ESA Founders' Memorial Award Must have an outstanding record of accomplishment in entomology. Colleague/Self Entomology 17-Apr
Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management Must have made outstanding contributions to IPM. Branch Integrated Pest Management 1-Jun
ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Extension Must demonstrate excellent performance through program creativity, impact, achievement, and delivery. Branch Extension 1-Jun
ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching Must teach at the community college or university level, and must have excelled through innovations in developing new courses, programs, and teaching methods. Branch Teaching 1-Jun
Nan-Yao Su Award for Innovation and Creativity in Entomology Must be able to demonstrate through his/her projects or accomplishments an ability to identify problems and develop creative, alternative solutions that significantly impact entomology. Colleague/Self Innovation 1-Jun
Distinguished Achievement Award in the Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion in the Field of Entomology Must be able to demonstrate through their statement how their efforts towards diversity and inclusion have engaged participation of all individuals who are interested in entomology regardless of age, gender, gender identity, race, cultural background, religion, physical ability, sexual orientation, professional status, geographic location, and all other characteristics that make our members unique.  Colleague/Self Diversity & Inclusion 1-Jun
Science Communication Award The submitted project or program must engage public audiences with entomology-related scientific information (and have done so within the last three years). Early Career Professional Awards**

Henry and Sylvia Richardson Research Grantb Must be a postdoctoral scholar with at least one year of promising work experience, demonstrated a high level of scholarship and be working in insect control by attractants, repellents, biological controls, thermocontrols, or chemical controls. Second priority will be to those working in medical or veterinary entomology. Colleague/Self Research in Insect Control 1-Jun
Early Career Innovation Awardb Must be between two and ten years past the last degree (B.S., M.S. or Ph.D.) and  have demonstrated innovation through contributions in any area of specialization in Entomology. Colleague/Self Innovation 1-Jun
Early Career Professional (ECP)  Teaching and Mentoring Award No more than five years past the last degree (B.S., M.S. or Ph.D.) and has excelled in entomological education.  Colleague/Self Teaching 1-Jun
Early Career Professional (ECP) Research Award No more than five years past the last degree (B.S., M.S. or Ph.D.) and has made outstanding research contributions to the field of entomology. Colleague/Self Research 1-Jun

Student Awards

Award Requirements Where Nominations Come From Award Focus Annual Deadline
Alate Award Must be earning a degree (B.S., M.S., or Ph.D.) and studying specifically at least one insect in the field of entomology, or performing entomology-related research in a field such as biology agricultural science, forestry, evolution, ecology, or environmental sciences. Each applicant must be currently enrolled in an MSI listed in Appendix A and planning to present during the Annual Meeting (10-minute paper, poster, or infographic) if awarded.  Colleague/Self To promote interest in entomology in underrepresented minorities 1-Jun
Lillian and Alex Feir Graduate Student Travel Award in Insect Physiology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology Must be using arthropods to study any aspect of basic or applied physiology, biochemistry, or molecular biology in the broadest sense for their Master's or doctoral research. The Larry Larson Graduate Student Award for Leadership in Applied Entomology Final-year Master's students or first-year Ph.D. students are eligible. Colleague/Self Leader in applied entomology 1-Jun
ESA Student Activity Award Must be pursuing course work leading to a graduate degree with a focus in entomology and show evidence of an excellent academic record. Colleague/Self Contributions to ESA, department and community 1-Jun
John Henry Comstock Graduate Student Awards Given to an outstanding (usually Ph.D. level) graduate based on scientific quality of research, publications and presentations, and involvement in professional activities. Branch Overall excellence in graduate program 1-Jun
