Candidate for International Branch Representative to the ESA Certification Board
Dr. Lisa Poirier earned both her MPM (Master of Pest Management) and PhD degrees from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. She joined the Ecosystem Science and Management Program at the University of Northern British Columbia in 2001. Her research focuses on insect ecology in forests and aquatic systems. Past projects have examined aspects of the chemical and behavioral ecology of spruce budworms, leaf miners, and mountain pine beetle, as well as the diversity of mosquitoes in northern British Columbia. Current projects are examining the disturbance history of the Interior Douglas-fir biogeoclimatic zone in British Columbia, the biodiversity of benthic macroinvertebrates in northern BC streams, and insect biodiversity in Interior wetbelt forests. Dr. Poirier is currently Second Vice-President of the Entomological Society of British Columbia.
